The Chinese embassy in Namibia wants government to consider putting up signs in the Chinese language, at public places. Putting up direction signs in Mandarin at airports and other public establishments would encourage more Chinese nationals to visit Namibia as business people and tourists.
The Chinese ambassador to Namibia is happy with efforts to change negative perceptions about Chinese nationals. Zhang Ming, who paid a courtesy call on President Hage Geingob, says such negative discernments could affect relations between the two countries.

Muesee Kazapua has been re-elected as the City of Windhoek mayor, while Teckla Uugwanga will serve as deputy mayor for the year 2018. The swearing in was done by Magistrate Justine Asino, at the council chambers. Kazapua has been mayor since 2014, when he replaced Agnes Kafula, whilst Uugwangwa replaced former deputy mayor Fransina Kahungu.
