The Kalkrand Community in the Hardap region, who for months lived with a dysfunctional sewerage system can now breath a sigh of relief, at least temporarily. The Village Council has started putting in a septic tank system as temporary measure and also acquired a sewer truck.
The youth residing at the Duineveldt settlement, 20km north of Kalkrand in the Hardap Region are yearning for opportunities which could uplift their living standards. The young people are the majority at the settlement, which was created mainly by railway workers during the apartheid era.
