The Monte Christo Project Primary School now has two new classrooms that are hoped will create a conducive learning environment and subsequently improve results. The children were taught in tents before the donation of the containers that were converted into classrooms.

Namibia will soon ban the establishment of liquor outlets near schools, places of worship, hospitals and in residential areas. This is contained in the Liquor Amendment Bill tabled in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The Swakop Uranium Foundation has set aside 800 00 000 dollars to assist the government’s Harambee Prosperity Plan. Chief Executive Officer Zheng Keping told President Hage Geingob that the money would assist in areas such as youth unemployment, food and drought relief among others.

The Council of the University of Namibia has extended the term of office of Vice-Chancellor Professor Lazarus Hangula for two more years. Professor Hangula was supposed to retire at the end of July after being at the helm of UNAM for 12 years, The council says it took the decision to avoid a leadership vacuum.
