Farmer loses 29 goats in lightning strike

Rain across Namibia has brought relief to many but to some it has caused distress. At Okatumba Koukoze village in the Otjinene constituency, Mbinge Tjizoo lost 29 goats to lightning Thursday afternoon. This left the farmer, who had just endured a long spell of drought, heartbroken and distraught.

Khorixas community appeals for stiff sentence against murder accused

The community of Khorixas in the Kunene Region held a peaceful demonstration appealing for a stiff sentence after a 46-year-old woman was killed by an ex-boyfriend last week. The petition was addressed to the local magistrate and Khorixas Police Station Commander.

Lightning kills woman and her puppy in Zambezi

Heavy rains accompanied by lightning in some parts of the Zambezi Region on New Year’s Day has killed one person and her puppy at Ngoma. The incident happened between 15h00 and 16h00. The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Nzila Matengu.

Kuku Maria Mateus, also known as Mwinika gwa Ngula, a centenarian has passed on. Kuku Mwinika gwa Ngula was 102 years old and died at the Onandjokwe State Hospital after a short illness on 28 December.

Driver in Rundu hit and run accident appears in court

The man who bumped and killed four family members on Monday night at Rundu appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court today. Vensinslaus Mutero Mbangu aged 49 faces four counts of culpable homicide and one count of not stopping at the accident scene, as well as not reporting the accident to the police.
