The Gobabeb Research Centre, in the Namib Desert, is cultivating the next generation of environmental scientists. From primary school to tertiary students, the centre is training young people so that they conserve the environment.

Studies undertaken by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), on the elimination of child labour, from 2010 to 2012 warns of high prevalence of child labour in Namibia. The World Day Against Child Labour, which is held every year on June 12 aims to promote a worldwide movement against child labour in any form.

Protection of coastal waters, against damaging marine pollutants will be tightened once the National Marine Pollution Contingency Plan, comes into effect. The plan replaces the ‘National Oil Spill Contingency Plan’ of 2007, and is aimed at providing instruments, to manage marine pollution risks.
