The City of Windhoek held its first Girls and Boys Leadership Conference in the capital over the weekend. The meeting promotes youth engagement through the exchange of information and best practices in education, mentorship, group counselling and advocacy. Young people from the Children’s Home in Eros Park, SOS Children’s Homes and different schools in the city, attended. The Junior Mayor of Windhoek, Michael Petrus, encouraged participants to start leadership within themselves. City of Windhoek Mayor Muesee Kazapua said such a platform prepares the youth to be great leaders in the future. Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila reminded the youth that harnessing entrepreneurial talents among young people contributes to employment-generation and inclusive growth. The expected outcome will empower the youth through sharing of communication skills, interpersonal skills, adaptability, resilience, leadership and problem-solving skills.
