The Confederation of Namibian Fishing Associations (CNFA) has applauded the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources for ensuring many Namibians benefit from the resources as opposed to only few people in the past. CNFA’s chairman, Matti Amukwa, says 99% of fishing rights are in the hands of Namibians. Prior to independence, fishing rights were in the hands of foreigners and profits were taken to their respective countries.
