Katutura East Constituency Councillor Ruben Sheehama has called for the construction of a home for people with disabilities. Sheehama held a meeting with disabled people on Tuesday, to discuss issues that can help improve their lives. He expressed the need for land to be made available for a well-structured place for these people, which they can call home. The Councillor pointed out that many disabled people cannot take care of themselves properly and need assistance. Sheehama wants a doctor to be readily available in treating the disabled at the facility, once it becomes a reality. He said many disabled persons stay with people with no income, who cannot assist them as they should. Sheehama said he was touched by the fact that some disabled people are bed-ridden and do not go outside to see the sun. He also suggested that land be made available for a garden to plant vegetables and fruit that will be more accessible for people with disabilities.
