Councilor Ambrosius Kandjii of Katutura Central Constituency was arrested late yesterday night at his house in Katutura’ s Freedom Square, at about 21h00, following two cases of malicious damage to property and assault and pointing of a firearm. Namibia Police’s spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi has confirmed this, saying the first case that occurred on 19 April at People’s Primary School, in Hans Uirab Street, Damara location, was through threatening. It is alleged that there was a commotion at the parking area of the school and the Councilor ordered people to remove their vehicles. He apparently damaged a car of one man and when the man asked him why he did it he allegedly told him that he had a gun and he could shoot him. The complainant is a 26-year-old Namibian male. The second case took place at about 18h00 on 24 April, in which the suspect is been accused of pointing a firearm. This incident happened at Freedom Square at the house of the suspect. It is alleged that the suspect punched the 31-year-old female complainant in the eye and pointed the gun at her, threatening to shoot her. She allegedly went to ask him about food distribution which ended up in an argument. He then allegedly assaulted her. Police investigations continue.
