Commuters around Windhoek, who make use of municipal buses, were left stranded and frustrated on Wednesday, because of the new routes the City of Windhoek has introduced. Bus stops like those at Miami service in central Katutura and at Okuryangava were packed with angry commuters, including learners having to get to school for exams. Many of the customers had to flock to already full buses. Customers argued that they were not informed about the route changes and the reasons behind the new routes that were established. They said the situation puts their jobs in danger, as they were late for work. Approached for comment, the Public Relations Officer at the City of Windhoek, Lydia Amutenya, said customers were informed of the new routes through various radio stations and newspapers. She urged the public to be patient, as this is a learning process for the municipality, whilst commuters will also benefit from this new routes.
