The partially burnt and severed body of a newborn baby was discovered at two separate places in the Okuryangava residential area of Windhoek on Tuesday. An Okuryangava resident discovered the baby’s head along Ongandu Street and alerted the police who found the rest of the body some 500 metres away in a riverbed at the corner of Hereford Street and Monte Christo Road. City Police Superintendent Maria Muomba says the body of the baby was in a plastic bag that appeared to have been burned. The residents saw a dog busy eating something and upon closer inspection saw that the dog was eating what seemed to be a head of a baby. Sylvia Kavari told Nampa she and her sister were on their way to school when they noticed the dog and subsequently discovered the head before alerting the police. She noted it was not clear as to where the dog had found the detached head of the newborn baby, which was half eaten by the time the police arrived.
