The education system should produce an environment that would enable students to grow academically and socially. Fluksman Samuehl, the Patron of Immanuel Shifidi Secondary School, in Katutura, made these remarks at the 40th anniversary of the school during the weekend. He said the system should prepare students to serve as leaders and solve societal problems in their chosen careers. Samuehl says a successful educational institution is one that produces creative students who demonstrate the potential to become problem solvers and great leaders of their generation. He said schools should adopt models that groom learners with leadership characteristics and inspire a commitment to community service. He says it requires collective efforts of all stakeholders to help students develop the critical thinking skills to understand problems and to identify and implement solutions. The principal of Immanuel Shifidi Secondary School, Herman Katjiuongua told the gathering that his school has over the years produced professionals in different fields and is still committed to produce great leaders for the future. Portraits of the late politician and teacher, Immanuel Shifidi, were auctioned. It was followed by fundraising activities for the development of the school.
