Air Namibia’s chief human resource officer, Elia Erastus has been appointed as acting head of the national airline. Spokesperson Twakulilwa Kayofa on Tuesday confirmed to NBC News that the parastatal’s acting chief executive officer (CEO) Xavier Masule has resigned from this portfolio. Masule, who served at the helm of the national airline in an acting capacity for 11 months was the fourth acting CEO since the resignation of Theo Namases in 2015. Masule cited personal reasons as the basis for his resignation. A statement released by Air Namibia said Masule will return to his position as a chief commercial officer. Kayofa informed NBC News that his company has placed an advertisement for the position of CEO in local newspapers. Elia has been employed at the airline for only five months.
