Finance Minister Calle Schlettwein has been honoured with a Transparency Excellence Award by the African Leadership Magazine. He received the award during the African Anti-Corruption Commission and Transparency Roundtable in Washington DC in recognition of his contribution to Africa’s growth and development. African Leadership Magazine has a Programme of honouring African leaders and this year was the first time they had an award for anti-corruption. Speaking to NBC News from Washington DC, Schlettwein said Namibia was placed firmly in the category of countries committed to fighting corruption. He said he was honoured to receive the award.
