The Minister of Urban and Rural Development Erastus Uutoni commended food producers in the ||Kharas Region for making food security a key priority by not only providing for the local markets but also exporting Namibian products to the international market. Uutoni made the remarks at Keetmanshoop, during the commemoration of Africa Day on Decentralization and Local Development. The day, which is observed each year in August, is commemorated by all African Union member states in keeping with the resolution of the AU and the African Charter on values and principles of decentralization and local governance. The objectives are to share and exchange best practices on how to organize territorial development and cooperate for food security measures and interventions towards the realization of the goals of Agenda 2063. Many food producers and government agencies exhibited some of the products and services on offer.
