The Government on Tuesday announced the passing of Major General (retired) Peter Nambundunga and extended condolences to his wife, children, friends and the entire bereaved family. Nambundunga went in exile in 1974 and was a combatant of the People’s Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN). After independence in 1990, he joined the Namibian Defence Force. He served in various capacities, including as Chief of Staff, Army Commander and Acting Chief of the Defence Force. At the time of his death on 14 January at Ongwediva Medic Park, he served as the Special Advisor to the Governor of the Ohangwena Region, Usko Nghaamwa. The late Major General (retired) Nambundunga was conferred with The Order of Namibia, First Class, for his excellent service to Namibia and her people on 26 August 2003.
