About 750 residents of Groot Aub signed a petition demanding that the government reverse the decision of proclaiming Groot Aub as part of the City of Windhoek. They say they will not be able to afford the high rates and taxes charged by the City of Windhoek, and also demanded that the residents of Groot Aub be given preference in the allocation of residential plots.
