Former Basic Education Minister, Katrina Hanse-Himarwa has failed in her attempt to petition the Supreme Court to hear her appeal. Hanse-Himarwa’s application for leave to appeal was denied by a three-judge bench at the Supreme Court in Windhoek. She was found guilty of corruption in 2019. High court judge Christie Liebenberg found that Hanse-Himarwa removed two names form the list of the Mass Housing beneficiaries and replaced them with names of her relatives. She did the act while she was Governor of the Hardap Region. The High Court sentenced her to two years imprisonment or a fine of N$50 000. She paid the fine.
