Health and Social Services Minister, Bernhard Haufiku says multi-sectoral cooperation is key to controlling the recent outbreak of diseases. Dr Haufiku explained that the simultaneous outbreak of Hepatitis E and Cholera in Windhoek and a case of Congo Fever in Gobabis, had been a challenge. He said it is only through co-operation among various role players that health authorities were able to stem the spread of the diseases. Haufiku states that the UN family, particularly the World Health Organisation (WHO), had been a true partner in the process. The health minister was speaking at the start of a stakeholder consultative workshop on the WHO Country Cooperation Strategy. The 2018-2022 Cooperation Strategy aims at further improving the quality and effectiveness of WHO’s work through aligning it to Namibia’s National Development Agenda.
