Human remains believed to be those of 38-year-old Akim Katjinamunene, who was reported missing in November 2018 at Okondjatu, were found by goat herders in bushes at the Ozongarangombe village on Saturday. Katjinamunene had gone missing from a funeral he attended at Okondjatu on 19 November last year. Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Wednesday told Nampa that Katjinamunene’s relatives have since claimed the remains. “His close relatives identified the remains through the clothes which were found on the scene as the ones Katjinamunene was wearing the day of his disappearance,” Mbeha said. Katjinamunene hailed from the Orunahi village in the Okakarara Constituency. In a separate incident, another human skeleton was found on Tuesday morning along the Okahandja-Karibib B2 road by men of a local anti-poaching unit operating on Farm Ongombombero situated about 35 kilometres west of Okahandja. “It is suspected that the remains had been there for a long time because they were found scattered all over the ground,” Mbeha said. The Otjozondjupa police is now calling on members of the general public missing a relative in that area to contact the Okahandja Police Station.
