
Since the death of Dr. Sam Nujoma on February 8, at the age of 95 in Windhoek, diplomats accredited to Namibia, gathered at the Nujoma Residence to pay their final respects.
Representing various nations and international organisations, they highlighted Nujoma’s enduring legacy and the strong diplomatic ties he fostered throughout his leadership.
Dignitaries, including CEOs, diplomats, ministers, and ambassadors, gathered to pay their respects and sign the condolences book.
The Nujoma residence was adorned with flowers and art pieces, symbolising the nation’s reverence for its first president.
Among the ambassadors were Finland’s Leena Viljanen, Spain’s Alberto de la Calle, and Germany’s Dr. Thorsten Hutter.
Portugal’s ambassador, Rui Carmo, and Ana Beatriz Martins, the Head of the European Union Delegation, also came to pay their final respects. Dr. Magaly Josefina Henríquez González, Venezuela’s Ambassador to Namibia, was also in attendance.
Utoni Nujoma, Dr. Nujoma’s eldest son and a prominent politician, received condolences from various ambassadors.
They spoke of the deep and enduring relationships his father fostered with numerous countries, highlighting strong ties with Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and many other international communities.
