The Shack Dwellers Federation in the //Karas Region has announced that about 90 houses will soon be built in the region. The announcement was made by the Shack Dwellers Federation’s regional facilitator, Rosalinda Hendricks, at Keetmanshoop Monday. Thirty houses will be built at Luderitz, 20 at Tses, 10 at Koes and 20 at Karasburg. At Keetmanshoop, 11 houses are earmarked to be constructed. This is largely due to a 50% discount on the cost price for the approval of building plans to the members of the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia. Members are from the low-cost housing sector and would have paid N$1 000, the current standard rates for building plans.
