An unidentified man died at Rundu on Friday after he was hit by two vehicles, whose drivers both fled the scene. The Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for the Kavango East Region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Monday the incident occurred at Ndama settlement next to the truck port around 21h40. “The deceased, a San-speaking man, was crossing the road when he was first hit by a white Toyota Corolla which was travelling from east to west. He was hit for the second time by a vehicle travelling from west to east,” Kanyetu said. The victim died on the spot and both drivers fled the scene, he added. The deceased has not yet been identified and his next of kin are also not informed yet. In an unrelated incident on the same day, an adult man whose age is not known died at Taratara village in the Ndiyona constituency after a maize meal pounding machine fell on him. Kanyetu said the deceased was pounding maize meal with the machine when the incident occurred around 15h00. He has been identified as Sirunda Samuel and his next of kin have been informed.
