The Mariental State Hospital in the Hardap Region caught fire in the early morning hours of Monday. The blaze is said to have started in the ceiling of the reception area and caused extensive damage to the roof of the reception block. The town’s fire brigade responded promptly and put out the blaze, preventing it from further spreading to other parts of the hospital. No injuries were reported and all patients are safe.
