Namibia’s Ambassador to the United States, Martin Andjaba, is to become a member of the National Assembly, following his appointment by President Geingob. Andjaba was Namibia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations since 1996 and prior to that, served as Chief of Protocol Officer to Founding President, Sam Nujoma. President Hage Geingob appointed Andjaba to the National Assembly after another Swapo Member of Parliament, Paula Kooper moved up on the list to become a voting member. Geingob appointed Kooper on his list following the recall of former Land Reform Deputy Minister, Bernadus Swartbooi in 2017, but he takes the position now on own merit, following the resignation of former deputy minister of labour, Apheus Muheua. Meanwhile, Swapo members, Eliphas Dingara and Eunice Iipinge who replaced Petrina Haingura, were also sworn in as Members of Parliament.
