SWAPO’s Marlayn Mbakera has been sworn in as Otjiwarongo Constituency councillor as the newest member of the Otjozondjupa Regional Council. She takes over the position left vacant by the late Julius Neumbo who passed away in December 2019. At the same event, Okahandja Constituency councillor Steve Biko Booys was nominated as the new regional council chairperson. This means Booys has resigned from his position at the National Council. His resignation was tendered at the swearing-in ceremony. The two members were sworn in by magistrate Karl Muyengu.
