Chairperson of the National Council Margaret Mensah-Williams expressed disappointment over the low turnout to a march against gender-based violence (GBV) in Khomasdal North Constituency on Sunday. Only a handful of adults and about 30 children showed up for the march. The march started from Zanzibar Street in Otjomuise to Khomasdal Constituency hall. Mensah-Williams said it is disappointing to note that while GBV occurs at an alarming rate in the country, community members are drinking in shebeens instead of participating in events aimed to end the social ill. The march took place under the theme ‘Hear Me Too, End the Violence Against Women and Girls’.
