Minister Itah Kandjii-Murangi has launched a COVID-19 management and surveillance tool. The Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation says the application can be rolled out to all health facilities. She says the application, developed with input from the High-Level Research Coordination Task Force on COVID-19 (HLRCTF), helps with surveillance of the pandemic across Namibia. Minister Kandjii-Murangi further said the app helps health workers manage, support and provide services to patients. She has emphasised the need to leverage technology in containing and defeating the COVID-19 pandemic. Minister Kandjii-Murangi made the remarks while handing over the app to Health Minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula at the COVID-19 Communication Centre earlier in the day. Dr Shangula said apps are a welcome addition to Namibia’s arsenal in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He said appropriate case management and surveillance are critical in Namibia’s progression towards a life without the current pandemic. The apps are being rolled out free of charge. Both officials advice Namibians to obtain more information about the apps suite from the National COVID-19 website at www.namibiacovid19.gov.na
