The staff complement in the Ministry of Health and Social Services has increased. Health Minister, Dr Bernard Haufiku said, now more than before, the ministry has a fair number of specialists. The minister, who was addressing the ministerial management forum underway in the capital, said, there had been an improvement in human resources although there are still some health facilities that lack specialists. The ministry is still battling with some ailing health facilities infrastructures in the country. The ministry also plans to migrate from paper work to an electronic data system. While the ministry is faced with these difficulties, Dr Haufiku reminded managers to take ownership of their operations adding that each manager should take responsibility and accountability. Leadership is not just about making efforts or writing a letter and you think you have solved the problem, leadership is having in mind what could be done that you can suggest to the next level.. He added that Namibians have their hopes on the health care system to provide unhindered access to quality health care services without any catastrophic consequences.
