Two women, who are believed to have been murdered, are still not identified, almost a year since they were found at Rundu. These discoveries, following shortly after each other, sent shock waves through the north-eastern town. The first partially decomposed body was discovered in the grass behind Drop Lager Bar, situated along the Trans-Caprivi highway, on 14 March 2017, when an individual was using the bathroom behind the bar. The woman, who is suspected to be in her 20s, was wearing a grey skirt and a blue top, with red and blue beads around her waist. Community members were puzzled at the time as the area is frequently passed through, creating suspicion that the body might have been dumped there shortly before it was discovered. A second decomposed body of a woman in her 20s, found on 26 March 2017 at a dumpsite, also remains unidentified. Recently, another woman’s body was discovered. Wayera Petrina Haipopo, 24, from Nyondo village, about 90 kilometres east of Rundu, is believed to have been strangled to death. Those who would like to identify the other two bodies can approach the Rundu Police station, or contact detective warrant Godfried Maritshame, at 0812975649.
