SWAPO central committee member Tobie Aupindi has been ordered to pay a fine of N$50 000 or face 30 months in prison by Magistrate Helvi Shilemba. The Windhoek Magistrate’s Court also imposed a similar punishment on his co accused Italian-born Namibia citizen, Antonio di Savino. Aupindi and Di Savino lied to an ACC investigator in March and April 2010 saying Aupindi paid N$50 000 himself for the installation of a swimming pool at his house in Windhoek in 2006, while they knew Di Savino had actually paid for the pool. At the time the pool was installed, Di Savino was doing business with Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR), while was the head of the state-owned company.
