Namibia Breweries is in the process of drilling a fourth borehole on its premises to help counter water shortages caused by the drought. Managing Director Wessie van der Westhuizen says with the current water shortage, especially in the central areas, NBL will continue to execute its water mitigation plan and reduce dependency on public water resources. Van der Westhuizen pointed out that despite the water crises, the company has recorded excellent results for 2016, growing its operating profit and beer volumes by six-comma-seven and eight per cent respectively. Finance Director Graeme Mouton said the company delivered a solid operating margin of 22%, despite strong foreign exchange fluctuations. Mouton stressed that the local beer market continues to grow with an increase of 8% from the previous year. He said Namibia Breweries is optimistic about the company’s future business outlook.
