Although Namibia has made significant strides in assisting people with disabilities, a lot still needs to be done to integrate them into society. 3 December is observed as International Day of Persons with Disabilities and was established by the UN in 1992. In Namibia the day will be celebrated on 6 December in Keetmanshoop in the //Karas Region to reflect on the progress made and the shortcomings.
