Deputy Minister Dr Utjiua Muinjangue says Namibia has gone 43 days without recording any new confirmed COVID-19 case. She said in the latest update from the COVID-19 Communication Centre in Windhoek that the total confirmed case burden has remained at 16. Muinjangue said 13 of the people, who had tested positive for COVID-19, recovered and were discharged. She says the three people who are still testing positive for COVID-19 remain stable and are being monitored, and no person has died in Namibia of complications related to the viral disease. She said 2 434 samples have been tested by the Namibia Institute of Pathology (NIP) and PathCare and 243 active contacts are being monitored for symptoms of COVID-19 on a daily basis. Muinjangue has thanked Namibians for continuing to observe regulations aimed at containing the viral disease. She said only 514 people are in Namibia’s quarantine facilities as of today.
