Namibia needs about N$100 million every month to protect the country’s rhino population. This was said by Environment and tourism Minister Pohamba Shifeta at a two-day conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade in London. According to Shifeta it will costs Namibia approximately N$1 000.00 per rhino a day which translates into N$30 000.00 per rhino a month. This means, Namibia with a population of more than 3 500 rhinos, needs approximately N$105 million a month to fully protect the entire population of rhinos in the country including those in private ownership. The resources Namibia desires to have, if allowed to dispose its rhino and elephants products on international legal markets.
