Namibia and the rest of SADC remain steadfast in their support for Botswana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi as their candidate for the African Union Commission Chairperson position. The new Chairperson of the Commission will be elected at the 28th African Union Summit in Rwanda’s capital Kigali. Shortly before departing for the two day summit which starts on Sunday, President Hage Geingob said Venson-Moitoi was more than capable of advancing the continent’s common position in terms of development. Dr Geingob further noted that as Namibia and Botswana continued to be role models of peace and democracy in the region, Botswana’s Foreign Affairs Minister would promote peace and for African leaders to adhere to the set presidential term limits.
