The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) are searching for a murder suspect believed to have assaulted and killed his employer at a farm in the Otjimbingwe area in the Erongo Region on Saturday. According to a crime report issued by NamPol on Sunday evening, the incident occurred around 18h00. It is alleged that the suspect, who is originally from Rundu, approached the wife of the deceased, Hendrik Petrus Coetzee (59), asking where his firearm was. According to the report, when the wife responded that there was no firearm, the suspect allegedly ransacked the house before he found an axe, which he used to assault the deceased. Additionally, the suspect reportedly went back to the house, loaded some items into the deceased’s pick-up truck, forced the deceased’s wife into the vehicle and drove off at about 00h00. It is further alleged that at about 35 kilometres from Otjimbingwe, the suspect lost control of the vehicle, which overturned before he fled the scene. The wife reportedly managed to get assistance from passers-by, who notified the police of the incident. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed. A case of murder, theft of a motor vehicle and kidnapping has been opened against the suspect. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death and investigations into the matter continue. In a separate incident, a 14-year-old girl reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at Farm Otjua in the Karibib district of the Erongo Region on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Monica //Hoebes and her next of kin have been informed of her death.
