An expo hall, an open market and a fire station were inaugurated in Nkurenkuru, Kavango West Region.
Even though the Nkurenkuru Expo Hall has been hosting various events in the region for the past two years, it was never officially inaugurated.
The town of Nkurenkuru is growing at a fast pace and with this comes the need to provide facilities that cater to the needs of the community.
The inauguration of the open market will also allow small scale traders, entrepreneurs and the informal sector to carry out their business activities conveniently.
Kavango West Governor, Sirkka Ausiku, delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Urban and Rural Development.
“It provides a structured, safe, and clean environment for vendors to conduct business, fostering local economic growth. Markets like these empower small business owners, create job opportunities, and contribute to poverty reduction. I encourage all traders and business owners to take advantage of this new facility and use it as a stepping stone to greater financial success.”
The newly inaugurated Nkurenkuru Fire Station has been operational for about a year now.
The government provides subsidies to enable local authorities to establish and operate fire brigade services to deal with fire incidences and other emergencies.
In his message, the Minister of Urban and Rural Development called upon the Nkurenkuru Town Council’s leadership and management to ensure the proper management and maintenance of these facilities.
