Five people died in two separate car accidents in the Oshana region on Friday night. The first accident happened at around 6 O’clock on the Oshakati/Okahao main road on Friday afternoon. It is alleged that the driver of an Opel Corsa pick-up was trying to overtake two vehicles and lost control of the car and overturned. Ttwo passengers were thrown out of the vehicle and died on the spot. The driver sustained injuries and was rushed to the Oshakati Intermediate hospital. A one year old baby who had sustained serious injuries died on the way to hospital. Their names have not yet been released. Another accident occurred on the Ongwediva/Ondangwa road, where a taxi collided head-on with a truck. The taxi driver died on the spot, while one passenger who was seriously injured died upon arrival at the Oshakati Hospital.
