Acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), Morné du Toit vows to step down from his current position as soon as a new council is appointed. He took over from former VC, Tjama Tjivikua earlier this year. By yesterday, Du Toit had already notified the university’s council chairperson, Goms Menetté, as well as the line minister, Dr Itah Kandjii-Murangi about his decision. He informed the staff about his decision on Wednesday. The university has been mired in controversy ever since two council members resigned in June. With the current council’s term coming to an end, all eyes are on who the new council will choose for the acting job. Du Toit holds the position of deputy vice-chancellor of administration and finance at NUST.
