Members of the Okahandja community were protesting in front of the Okahandja Magistrate Court Monday. They wanted to make sure that a murder accused would not be granted bail. The accused is Namibian Defence Force member, 58-year-old Malakia Nakanyala, who is accused of murdering 55-year-old Issaskar Hamaseb. Nakanyala, who was stationed at Osona Base, was arrested after allegedly shooting Hamaseb twice at a bar over the weekend. The incident is said to have happened at Oma Anya Bar, in Budget Homes at the town. Hamaseb, who was shot on the chest, died upon arrival at the Okahandja State Hospital. The matter has been postponed to 5 July, while the accused will remain in custody.
