The Okahandja District Hospital is prepared to deal with potential cases of COVID-19, Gebhardo Timotheus, Health Director for the Otjozondjupa Region has said. He said the new wing of the hospital was turned into a quarantine ward which will be able to accommodate six people. The hospital also has two treatment rooms with an admission capacity of up to four patients at once. The health director further informed NBC News that his region has enough protective gear for medical staff. “We cannot fully say we have enough protective gear as we cannot predict how many cases we might get or will get, but for not we are prepared,” he said. The hospital, however, does not have any ventilators if a critical case of COVID-19 is recorded. To this, Timotheus said, that all critical cases would be referred to bigger hospitals.
