Omaruru Mayor Vincent Kahua has said development in the town continues to take shape as the local municipality has centred its agenda to serve residents’ needs.

Kahua said this when officially inaugurating the town’s first traffic lights and upgraded taxi rank.

Kahua added that the improvement of traffic lights and taxi rank is part of the municipality’s five-year strategic plan to modernise the town.

“Our first vision in that strategic plan, from this year on going forward for five years, is to make sure that we modernise Omaruru as a town, and to modernise the town we need to improve the town in different ways. Here, where we are, we can witness what the council has done. They have even improved our bridge in terms of our pedestrians. We have even improved our taxi rank for our transport community residents. Here today, we are witnessing the improvement of the robots.”

The latest developments in the town are the single quarters, open market, service station, and electrification project in the Hakahana location.

Sewerage construction is also ongoing to upgrade the network for the expanding population, including a testing and driving license center.
