More than 70 communities affected by drought in the Ongandjera Traditional Authority area have received mahangu from Ongandjera Chief Johannes Mupiya. That is in line with the policy of meeting the government halfway in fighting drought and poverty. The Government put aside 300-million dollars for the drought and called upon all stakeholders to come on board. Chief Mupiya instructed his Senior Headmen from 15 villages to list the most affected households. The most affected are those homesteads headed by senior citizens who received nothing from their mahangu fields. The beneficiaries applauded the chief and his wife for helping the needy.
