Thousands of Otjiwarongo residents were without water since Friday night. On Friday a Namwater pipe supplying water to the town was reported damaged. The mines at the town, that use large quantities of water, had to be supplied from the reservoirs. However, the situation worsened on Sunday when taps ran completely dry as the reservoirs were without sufficient water to supply to residents. NBC News was informed that the situation might be rectified by Monday evening. A meeting between the town council and Namwater officials is expected to be held Monday morning along with the town’s major water consumers.
