Over 1 600 sewer blockages were reported to the City of Windhoek in November alone. This is due to the disposal of non-flushable products into the sewer system as well as illegal connections to the system. In a statement the City of Windhoek reported that most of the items retrieved from sewer systems during the operations include tyres, car parts, stones, cattle heads, bones, blankets, clothes, sticks and steel.
