Namibia’s former President, Hifikepunye Pohamba urges his compatriots to use Independence celebrations for promoting unity and patriotism. Pohamba was addressing a belated Independence celebration at Onanghwe village in Omulonga Constituency of Ohangwena Region over the weekend. He said efforts put into reconciliation and living together in peace and harmony, should transform Namibia into one of the admirable nations of the world. The former statesman stressed the importance for Namibians to know that their mission to build their country goes beyond Vision 2030. He urged fellow Namibians to jealously guard the prevailing peace and stability, rejecting all forms of campaigns and efforts to bring back division of the people. Pohamba warned that excessive consumption of alcohol, mostly a habit among the youth, could derail the national development agenda and possibly reverse the hard-earned Government socio-economic gains.
