A 53-year-old police officer died after he was assaulted by a four-member gang over the weekend. Matheus Petrus was off duty, when he intervened as the gang attacked a woman at a local hangout in the Okamanya village in the Oshana Region. Petrus sustained head injuries as he fought the gang, and later succumbed to his injuries at Onandjokwe Hospital on Sunday. The four suspects – between the ages of 19 and 25 years – who allegedly physically assaulted the officer, were apprehended the same day.
