The Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare Ministry will host a social protection expert seminar in Swakopmund on 21 to 23 August. That was revealed by the Permanent Secretary, Esther Lusepani, in a media statement. The seminar, which seeks amicable ways to strengthen Namibia’s existing social protection system, will be held under the theme; ‘Towards a Comprehensive Social Protection System for Namibia’. Lusepani said the seminar will also take stock of what has been achieved locally and regionally in terms of the social protection system and deliberate on the future prospects of Namibia. Namibia included the social protection system, as one of the core development strategies in the Harambee Prosperity Plan, the Fifth National Development Plan and other related government documents, policies and plans. Minister Zephania Kameeta will officiate the official opening of the event on 21 August.
