President Hage Geingob inaugurated the Namibian chancery in Paris with a call on staff to continue promoting relations between the two countries. Dr. Geingob says political diplomacy ought to be augmented with economic development of equal partnerships. The relations between Namibia and France date back from pre-independence which resulted in SWAPO maintaining representation in Paris up to 1990. Over the years, the two countries have been cooperating in various fields’ especially in uranium mining and agriculture, among other sectors. This has further demonstrated that economic cooperation forms part of foreign policy. President Hage Geingob says this intensifies government efforts to push for economic diplomacy with little resources at disposal as socio-economic issues should not be excluded from main foreign policy issues. The Namibian chancery forms an integral part of the diplomatic mission, with Frieda Ithete as the Ambassador to France.
